Bus Boarding Requirements

To board your bus and validate your travel ticket, it's important to meet the official requirements and present the corresponding documentation.

Required Documents

What documents do I need to board a bus?

In addition to your printed bus ticket and arriving at least 30 minutes before departure, the Mexican Federal Government requires you to present a valid, original, government-issued photo ID (no alterations or corrections).

Accepted documents:

  • Voter ID (INE) — Mexican residents only
  • Professional license (Cédula profesional)
  • Military service card (Cartilla militar)
  • Driver's license
  • Residency card

⚠️ Important: If your ID is expired, you will not be allowed to board.

Traveling by bus with minors

Minors cannot travel alone on a bus. If your reservation includes a minor, the accompanying adult (parent or legal guardian) must present their own valid government-issued photo ID, plus one of the following documents for the minor:

  • CURP (Mexican population registry code)
  • Birth certificate
  • School ID
  • Passport

Requirements for foreign passengers

If you are a foreign traveler planning to travel by bus in Mexico, you must present the following:

  • Valid passport
  • Visa (if applicable)
  • Multiple Immigration Form (FMM) — stamped and signed

Important reminders before boarding

  • It is the passenger's responsibility to have all required documents before traveling.
  • A printed bus ticket is required by most carriers.
  • Without the required documents, boarding will not be permitted and the ticket purchase is forfeited.
